This site supports Minix version 2, through release 2.0.4.
MINIX 3 and this site
Minix 3.1 was released on October 24, 2005. Much of the information here will also be relevant to users of Minix 3, but many improvements have been made. Some information here may not be correct or relevant for Minix 3.
Additionally, contributed software posted here may or may not work with Minix 3. In many cases binaries compiled on Minix 2 run satisfactorily on Minix 3. In most cases, if a binary doesn't work, recompiling a program originally written for Minix 2 on Minix 3 will be successful. As feedback is received information on compatibility will be posted here.
The official Minix 3 website is http://www.minix3.org. Please go there for more information or to download Minix 3.
Minix 3.1 will also be available on a CD-ROM to be distributed with the text Operating Systems Design and Implementation, 3rd edition, to be published by Prentice-Hall. This new edition should be available by the end of December 2005.
