qcam.txt Support for Connectix Black&White Parallel QuickCam A port of qcam-0.91 to Minix by Michael Temari 21 April 2000 Also see jpeg-6b.tar.Z on this site. The following is the original README from the Linux version of qcam-0.91, dated 21 November 1996: WHAT: Qcam is a library and a set of utilities for using the Connectix Black&White Parallel QuickCam under Linux. It does not support the color version of the camera, and it does not support the serial version of the camera. HOW: "make". The binaries created have to (generally) be run as root, since they require access to the parallel port. You can run them as root, or do "make install" as root. "qcam" produces single snapshots. "xqcam" requires X, and displays a window showing what the Cam sees, updating it as quickly as possible. "make.darkmask" is a utility that detects bad pixels in your Cam, and allows qcam and xqcam to patch over them (further details in CHANGES file). You'll also want to install and update a "qcam.conf" file, especially the "port" field.
