floppy 1.1 -- Get more storage space on floppy disks. Supercedes hflop 1.0 Author: Claudio Tantignone (c_tantignone@hotmail.com) Received: 23 Nov 1999 These are patchs that allows you to get more space from your floppy disks, with modifying the format of them. The previous version was hflop 1.0, used only under Minix 2.0.0. The patchs permit you to store a maximum of 1.476 Mbytes in 1.2Mbytes 5.25 disks (23% more), and 1.722 Mbytes into 1.44 Mbytes 3.5 disks (19% more). and to make boot diskettes. The patches were tested under 16 and 32 bits systems, in version 2.0.2 . The code into format.cdiff and floppy.cdiff is compatible with Minix 2.0.0, but the boot code is different. If you need to work with 2.0.0, use the hflop code or e-mail me. I suggest you read carefully the floppy.doc file before applying the patches, and make previous copies of the source files and binary to avoid problems. The documentation explains how it works. It is better to read several times the floppy.doc file to know the steps you need, before any change. If you have questions, suggestions, and ideas, please let me know. But test carefully on your system. I have been warned this may not work on some older hardware.
