README for minix1.hampshire.edu /usr/ftp/contrib-old

This directory contains old versions of files which have newer versions
available in the contrib directory.  Don't download anything from this
directory unless you have a really good reason, the version in contrib
is probably better.

Why is this directory here at all then?  Many files in contrib are
works-in-progress, not fully tested, and sometimes an intended
improvement doesn't work out and there is a need to look back to an
earlier version.

Eventually files here will be deleted, when the versions in contrib are
considered stable and/or when disk space is needed.
