netdat11.txt a network time client for Minix 2.0 written by Michael Temari release 1.1 2 Apr 2000 Netdate is a client using the TIMEP protocol (see RFC 868) for fetching the current date and time from a network server to synchronize the local system clock. Version 1.1 behaves better when run as a cron job. Earlier versions did not return if the remote timeserver did not respond. This version has timeouts in the connect and read portions of the code. Version 1.1 has been tested under Minix releases 2.0.2 and 2.0.3 Installation: working as bin, uncompress and extract netdate.tar.Z in /usr/local/src, netdate directory will be created. Use "make" to compile, "make install" to install the binary in /usr/local/bin. To install the man page, copy netdate.1 to /usr/local/man/man1 and run makewhatis in /usr/local/man. The name of a default time server should be put in /etc/netdate.hst. 07/02/92 Tnet Release Michael Temari, and Fred N. van Kempen, 07/02/96 1.00 for Minix 1.7+ Michael Temari, 04/02/2000 version 1.1 (posted on TemWare.com 3 April 2001) Michael Temari , documentation updated and designated as version 1.1 by ASW 2003-03-03 1
