lynx285src Lynx browser v.2.8.5 source distribution for 32-bit Minix. Claudio Tantignone Oct 2003 posted here Feb 2004 This is the source package for lynx 2.8.5dev16. A binary distribution of a newer releae, lynx 2.8.5pre2 is available as lynx285p2b.tgz. The source distribution for the newer release is not yet available as of 15 Feb 2004. Note that these archives are compressed with gzip, which is more efficient than the Minix default "compress" command. Gzip for Minix is available from ftp://barnyard.syr.edu/pub/mcconnell/minix/. When gzip is installed the commands gzip, gunzip, and gzcat will be available. You can use these just the way you use the standard commands compress, uncompress, and zcat. Uncompress as bin in /usr/local/src using the command: gzcat < lynx285src.tgz | tar xvfp - This will create /usr/local/src/lynx2-8-5 and numerous subdirectories. Lynx is big, it needs about 2 Mbytes to run. Compiling lynx also may require a lot of memory. If you have never compiled anything bigger than a new Minix system you will probably find that various compiler passes will need to be chmem-ed to be able to handle the compilation of lynx. Read the file README.MINIX in the top level of the source directory for more information on configuring and compiling. (These notes by ASW 2004-2-06)
