hflop 1.0 -- 1.72Mbytes on 1.44Mbyte floppy disks for Minix 2.0.0. See flp-1.1 for Minix 2.0.2. Claudio Tantignone March 1998 Note: see flp-1.1 for later version compatible with Minix 2.0.2) Author: Claudio Tantignone (c_tantignone@hotmail.com) These are patches that allow you to get more space from your floppy disks, by modifying their format. The patches permit you to store a maximum of 1.476 Mbytes on 1.2Mbytes 5.25 disks (23% more), and 1.722 Mbytes on 1.44 Mbytes 3.5 disks (19% more) and to make boot diskettes. The patches were tested on Minix 2.0.0, both 16 and 32 bit systems. I suggest you read the file hflop.doc before applying the patches, to get an idea about how it works. If you have questions, suggestions, and ideas, please let me know. Claudio Tantignone. c_tantignone@newage.com.ar ---------------------------- Note added by asw (awoodhull@hampshire.edu): I understand this scheme is used by Microsoft and others for software distribution. But test carefully on your system. I have been warned this may not work on some older hardware. (rev. 2002-12-03)
