Here is the announcement of Minix 2.0.4 as posted to comp.os.minix:

Subject: Minix 2.0.4 mid development expert-only snapshot
From: kjb=733424@cs.vu.nl Kees J Bot at One Minix-vmd system, it works!
(The pretty words in the subject make it sound halfway decent.)
Minix 2.0.4 is out at http://www.cs.vu.nl/pub/minix/2.0.4/. Alas it's not a very nice distribution, and might even be called a shoddy piece of work. The reason for making it wasn't to grace the world with a new Minix version, but to create a stable point to fork off a new Minix project here at the VU.
The documentation runs behind the code, but if you are a Minix expert then you should have few problems with 2.0.4, because you have no trouble finding the undocumented bits in the source, right?
If not then don't hesitate to ask, preferably here in comp.os.minix where everyone can see and benefit from the answer. I'll try to compile a FAQ out of it.
I believe it is possible to upgrade 2.0.3 by removing /usr/include, /usr/man, and /usr/src, installing SYS.TAZ, CMD.TAZ (optional) and FIX.TAZ, configuring <minix/config.h>, and recompiling. I haven't tried it yet, so if someone succeeds at this or not then let us know.
Have fun playing with 2.0.4, but don't complain too loudly if it hits
you over the head and steals your candy.
